Hopefully, Zachary James Dodds will continue along this insightful path toward improved songcraft as maturation develops a more discerning taste.

If you enjoy Brit-pop infused folk music and B-side Bright Eyes covers, Zachary James Dodds is the fella for you.  The soulful stirrings of the early twenties creates a reminiscent air for those who have left this time behind while unifying younger audience members in the newness of the world and the rapid rate of diminishing interest.

At a recent folk festival held at Modified in Phoenix, Dodds performed for a gallery full of seated listeners, attentive despite the oppressive heat.  In a pause between songs, Dodds outlined his in-depth analysis of a Seal song which I won’t recount for you now more to maintain a musician’s right to onstage banter than my complete and total lack of personal interest in the sound of Seal.  What was of interest, however, was the young songwriter’s active ambition to understand another musician’s inner workings.
