The
Whisperlights
Record at Pyramix Studios
by Carly Schorman
The Whisperlights took to the studio for a day of recording as our Spring Song Contest Winners! Pryamix Studios can be found in the Northwest Valley but its mystical associations place it in a much different desert.

Upon first arriving at Pyramix, one can help but noting that the pyramid for which the studio is named must be just an iconic structure, certainly the ten-foot pyramid couldn’t house an entire state-of-the-art recording studio. Oh how wrong we all are. The visible structure is only the top of the pyramid which reaches well beneath the ground to create a formidable structure. Through a passageway that leads underground to the pyramid-shaped studio, the transition takes wayfarer from harsh surface light to the cool lower levels where mastermind and owner James Maras creates a constant blue hour for the inspiration of visiting musicians.
Pyramix's exterior only hints at its hidden depths...
The fellas of Whisperlights hang out in the mixing room with documentarian Tyler Quinn and YabYumMusic Editor Carly Schorman while Wassif passes hours getting the drums sounding just so before the group records.
Notes for the new song waiting to be played.
The floors of Pyramix can be opened up to plug musicians in anywhere they feel comfortable playing.
Tobie listens from his booth... then starts to wonder why it's so quiet.
Illya almost ready to rock... then totally ready to jam.
Chris and Illya listen intently to find the perfect level setting...
.... got it.
