This seems to be the growing common knowledge and yet we do nothing to stop it. Luckily, Ray Reeves and the Masters of the Economy provide the soundtrack to escape your wasteful, monotonous life and can give you the know-how of where to go from here.
There are many legends surrounding Ray Reeves and they are all presumably true. His Mother was a virgin when Ray was born, thus making him God. Later in life, a cosmic intelligence gave him visions that explained he was part of a genetic experiment intent on programming human beings through their diets, putting small microorganisms inside their food. And one can’t forget about the prophetic butt-hole, telepathically sending Ray low frequency, sub-sonic messages of religious instruction, guiding him toward his devoted followers.
What we absolutely do know for sure is that Ray records and produces all his music in his home studio. He plays almost every instrument imaginable, and can record himself playing multiple instruments at the same time. He has played with various musical incarnations throughout Arizona and the west coast including Portland, Oregon. When not writing, recording, performing or producing music he can be found working at a downtown homeless shelter or playing guitar tableside in a couple of Valley restaurants.
Now you can’t let the name fool you, the Masters of the Economy truly are also masters of music in their own right. Bassist Andrew Jemsek and drummer Matt Spastic are involved in more of the local scene than you can wrap your mind around. Andrew is in at least 23 other bands; more notably playing accordion and singing for Haunted Cologne, playing the keys and singing back-ups for Liam and the Ladies, fronting Andrew Jemsek & His Feisty Felines, as well as playing with Father’s Day and Man About a Dog to name but a small fraction in the over-all pie chart of his roster.
Matt Spastic play drums for the Complainiacs as well, but also co-hosts (with fellow Complainiacs member mollusk) 602radio.com, a website devoted to recording and archiving a whole assortment of badass Phoenix bands. Currently, they possess the only available recordings of Ray Reeves and the Masters of the Economy in their current form, so when your done with this article head on over to their site and expand your mind.
Although they had been on somewhat of a hiatus, Ray Reeves and the Masters of the Economy plan on making their name big. They are playing at the Firehouse on First Friday in January, and will be releasing a new album in the next few months. Before it’s too late and you’re left in the smoldering ashes of what used to be the American dream, take a listen to Mr. Reeves and take in the message he bestows upon thee: our system is failing, learn to rely on yourself and not on the economic power structures of control.
Our economic-driven, pro-capitalistic society seems doomed to collapse. Every day we exploit more people and rape the earth of more of her resources. Those with the most continue to gain while those with the least fall further to the wayside.
