There’s something beautiful about a shiny, newly-pressed, never-opened record. It’s easier to imagine the sound being pressed into the plastic, the meeting of art and industry, if it hasn’t been handled by others. Selfish and possessive, sure, but that record is yours and yours alone. Stinkweeds brings to Phoenix the best of the newest indie music. Don’t be intimidated by the hipster digs, authentic music resides therein. The place seems pricier than other local shops but only because most of the vinyls they carry have that pristine glow and new baby smell. Not the spot for crate diving, however. The kids behind the counter are definitely in the know when it comes to music. Do not be afraid to seek guidance from staffers and their listening station selections are frequently worth the pause and perusal.
