Write down Epic Cafe as number one on your Downtown Tucson to-do list. A relaxing place for a quick latte or long hours of study, Epic Café boasts a large menu full of drinks, food, and dessert that goes hand in hand with the comfy couches, the art adorning the walls, and the outdoor seating ideal for people-watching.
Situated on the SW corner of 4th Avenue and University, Epic Café is welcoming to Tucson’s very diverse downtown crowd.
Whether you are there by yourself or with friends, the place is usually bustling. Seating might be limited despite the many couches and chairs. Don’t let this lack of places for your butt bring down your expectations of what you order here. The food is delicious (with many vegetarian and vegan options) and the coffee is fantastic. Do you have issues with gluten? Well, every time I’ve been there at least two different gluten-free dessert options are offered that look more than satisfying.
This is a place that is made to make you smile. When I was there a few years ago, the key to their bathroom was attached to a rubber chicken. When I was there this past Sunday, my friends and I kept finding different envelopes reading “ Dear Someone” with poems inside, some about love, some about swimming. The tip jar sports dirty anecdotes glued on it stickers and, of course, the staff is always friendly.
