Scottsdale seems more likely to paint over street art than grant it gallery space. The 5and6 Gallery in Downtown Scottsdale is changing the game and getting down to the "Nitty Gritty" in Old Town.
Featuring Arizona artists previously featured in the Nitty Gritty Graf shows, the exhibit proves you can take the art of the streest but you can't take the street out of the artist... thankfully. Matt Dickson, one of the event's organizers, explained that many of the artsts had been painting together for going on 15 years.
Open every Thursday for the Scottsdale Artwalk or by appointment. The Nitty Gritty speaks to the underestimated value of street art and is not to be missed. Make sure to get down there soon!
