Most of us grew up around here and, well, we’ve always been interested/involved with music.  So it’s not terribly uncommon for us to cross paths with folks we know when writing articles for YabYumMusic.  For us to disclose all associative connections between staffers and those covered would be ridiculous.  It would go on and on at the bottom of the page, from relatives to friends and all others we’ve crossed paths with over the years. Here’s what we can promise…  our editors will act ethically and responsibly in the assigning of articles and every person on staff will behave in a philosophically objective fashion (true objectivity being an impossibility, however a necessary and ever-present goal).

I read a lot. Over the years, this habit has earned me nicknames such as “nerd,” “poindexter,”  and “Dude, you need to get laid.” And while there is a sliver of truth to these accusations, I hope to use my bookish habits as an illustration tool in this, my review of The Necronauts’ Gauche et Droite.

Don’t worry though, it’s not your fault.

These staples of the hip hop community have recently dropped their newest album, The Artist Lives...read more.

I am a native Phoenician.

Yes, I am one of the few true native Phoenicians, and as such when I was asked to write about a band from Tucson I was obviously a little apprehensive. I judge everything from Tucson harshly. I am not saying it is right, but it happens when you are born in Phoenix, sorry.

But today I have to swallow my pride and admit something... The Wolfgang, a rock trio from Tucson, is good. And not just good, they totally rock and I love their album...read more.
There is little more inspiring than a community effort to create a haven for art and music. It’s no surprise that we find such an effort coming to life in the heart of Sedona, Arizona’s own mystical center. Studio Live is much more than an intimate venue for locals in-the-know, it is the heart of a growing collective of artists, musicians, and volunteers unified in their commitment to promoting local arts in Sedona.

A recent visit to the area brought the fortunate encounter with one of the Studio’s songwriter circles featuring Sedona musicians Decker, Jake Payne, Jay Fout, and Saith. The area has been...read more.
